This is not a drill!
We really are returning to Borwick HALL for Halloween for the first time in five years!
The OutdoorLads BIG Halloween events are legendary, and we know members have missed our events at Borwick over the last few years. It's the perfect spooky setting for a scary weekend of great adventures outside in the Lancashire countryside and an epic, fun party night to celebrate Halloween in grand OutdoorLads style! We've listened to feedback and are delighted to be returning to this grand old mansion house for BIG Halloween 2024 - do not miss out!
----------------------------------------------------
Ghostly figures creeping in the darkness, screams from the shadows and whispers of an evil that you couldn't possibly comprehend. These are some of the many rumours that await at Borwick Hall. Dare you take the secret passage from the Library in Old Borwick to the torture chamber used by the 16th Baron of Borwick? An evil man, feared by many, so whatever you do.... don't go anywhere alone!!!

Meeting Point: All events will meet in the courtyard outside the canteen where we'll be having breakfast.
In the evening we will aim to please the dark spirit of the 16th Baron by partying into the night with our own DJ filling the dancefloor with the spookiest bangers possible! Fancy dress is an option on Saturday night - make it awesome, make it scary, funny, shocking and even in some cases outrageous (but please maintain some decency!) Or, if fancy dress isn't for you, then don't feel you have to, it's entirely optional - whatever you wish is totally fine.
Continental self-serve breakfasts are included, as is tea and coffee all weekend. Friday night will feature the traditional OutdoorLads buffet (please nothing that needs heating or cooking on site - we don't have the facility to do so) and on Saturday night we will be visited by lovely outside caterers who park up in the courtyard provide us with dinner to keep you going until late! There'll be there a few hours so you can choose when suits you to eat, and go to collect your dinner when you like. (Dietary requirements catered for if you have updated your preferences on your profile.) Accommodation is an a range of dormitory / hostel style rooms, with shared bathroom facilities.
The OutdoorLads bar will be there to serve a full range of alcoholic and soft drinks, including low or no alcohol alternatives. The bar is cashless and all profits go directly back into running the group, so please support it if possible!
We'll level with you: The price of this event is more than we would like to be charging you. Our last visit in 2019 was £92 for full members; since then the venue's cost pressures have meant a significant increase in their prices. We don't have access to the catering kitchen and hence we have brought in outside caterers for the Saturday night. We have worked hard to keep the price as low as we can and reduce our costs, and the ODL mark-up, because we know our members really, really want to come back here! However, it is a great venue, perfect for Halloween, and we know it will be a fabulous weekend all round! If the price is prohibitive for you, consider the OutdoorLads Foundation. It is there to assist full and concession members having a hard time, financially or otherwise, to come to our events and make the most of OutdoorLads. You can be working or not working, and we wont pry into your personal business if you apply. See the Foundation page on the website for info.
Dogs: This event is not suitable for dogs.

IMPORTANT! - Participation Statement
You MUST complete a Participation Statement in addition to booking your event space before attending an OutdoorLads event. You only need to complete this Participation Statement once, not for each event you attend.
What to bring
In addition to the kit lists relevant to any activities you may be doing, please bring:
Towel and wash kit
Clothes for wearing about the venue - OutdoorLads branded t shirts and other apparel are most welcome
Pillow from home - its a nice home comfort to have
Fancy Dress costume - if partaking in a bit of dressing up. Entirely optional of course.
Don't worry - all bedding is provided. So no need to bring that.
Food & drink
On both evenings, the OutdoorLads bar will be available serving a full range of alcohol and soft drinks, including no and low alcohol alternatives. The bar is CASHLESS. Profits from the OutdoorLads bar go straight back into supporting the group, and we try to keep prices as reasonable as possible, so please support the bar as far as possible. Due to licencing, you will not be able to bring your own alcohol into the bar or dancefloor areas.
The event costs price free tea and coffee all weekend and a continental breakfast both days, all on a self serve basis (which includes washing up your own posts afterwards please!)
Friday night is a COLD buffet and in the usual way, you are asked to contribute an item that is sufficient for 1 - 2 people. However due to catering limitations, please DO NOT bring items that need cooking or heating as we do not have the facility. Items should be able to be served cold.
For those who have been before, there is a change to the evening meal arrangements on Saturday. Rather than a sit down meal will be provided by outside caterers, who will accommodate all dietary needs (provided they are on your profile!). However you will need to present yourself for dinner between the specified hours (TBC) - no late additions can be catered for, unfortunately. (If you are wondering - we don't have access to the catering kitchen so we can't cook ourselves for the numbers involved, and hence bringing in outside caterers to feed us all!)
You will need to provide a packed lunch for Saturday. We are limited on fridge space so if you can bring something that doesn't require refrigeration that might be better.
