Fancy a tougher walk around the Midlands? Although mostly flat, this 18 mile canal walk will take you from the centre of England's second city out into the countryside towards Worcester.
We'll start in Birmingham's famous Gas Street Basin (15mins walk from Birmingham New Street Station) and head South along the Worcester & Birmingham Canal passing the famous landmarks of Edgbaston and Bournville. Once we leave the city we'll have amazing views around the region until we cross the M42 and had down past the amazing Tardebigge Locks before leaving the canal path for the short walk to Bromsgrove Station to get train back to Birmingham.
The train back to Birmingham New Street takes 25mins and costs £5.80.
What to bring
You'll need normal walking gear for this moderate walk but keep an eye on the weather nearer the date. If this is your first event and you're not sure what you need to bring, drop the event leader a message and they'll be happy to offer advice
Food & drink
You will need to bring a packed lunch and snacks to last you through the day as well as a hot drink and plenty of liquids to keep you hydrated. Be prepared and bring everything you need with you as there are few facilities of any kind around the walk.
We'll be visting a local pub on our return to Birmingham for a post-walk pint.
