The Golden Cap and the Dorset Jurassic Coast

Golden Cap stands at 191 metres (627 ft) and is visible for tens of miles along the coastline between Bridport and Charmouth in Dorset. The cliffs are the highest point on the south coast of Great Britain. The name derives from the distinctive outcropping of golden greensand rock present at the very top of the cliff.  The hill is owned by the National Trust and forms part of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site. Erosion of the coastline below reveals rock formations spanning approximately 185 million years of the Earth's history and a large range of important fossil sites. 

I have walked the Golden cap before, however this is my first time with Outdoorlads. The views on the Dorset Coast are renowned and this is one of the best bits.  It can be a demanding walk on a hot day but I'll take it easy on the uphill stretches.
