Taking the waters at Leamington Spa - day walk

Join TJ for a mid-winter wander through the Warwickshire countryside starting and ending at Leamington Spa station and taking in stretches of both the town's waterways.
Our walk starts on the towpath of the Grand Union Canal - the longest in the UK at 137 miles - although we follow it for a mere couple of miles before joining the disused Leamington to Rugby railway line as far as Offchurch.
The route then takes us across farmland to Cubbington where we'll stop for a pub lunch before heading along the Millennium Way back towards Leamington. The last section is along the bank of the River Leam (if not in flood) and through the delightful Jephson Gardens in the town centre.
Leamington's heritage as a spa town has left it with some beautiful Georgian buildings and it is well worth a look around when we return. You can still take the waters at the pump rooms - or a pint in one of the many pubs if you prefer!
What to bring
In summary: Dress warmly and wear walking boots!
Food & drink
It's difficult to find somewhere dry to park your bum in January so we will stop for lunch at the Kings Head in Cubbington.
You'll need to bring something to drink on the walk and a snack if you like.
