What will we be doing?

Arriving on Friday tea time we'll have chance to get settled into the hostel followed by the usual OutdoorLads buffet and a chat about plans for the weekend. Then there will be time to relax, catch up with friends and get to know some new faces. If you've never been to a hostel event before, don't be put off everyone is always super friendly and remember everyone had their first event once upon a time!

A Saturday, there will be at least one walk - probably to Dunwich Beach. Aternatively you can hire bikes from the hostel (taking advantage of the relatively flat area for some fun and not-too-challenging riding) or you can choose to explore the area independently.

On Saturday evening we hope to make the most of the long warm summer night with a BBQ on the hostel terrace.

On Sunday we will either go for a second walk or potentially a proper day trip to the beach (or other local attraction) if the weather’s good. Whilst you are free to leave earlier if you wish, we will make sure there's an activity through until around 4pm.

what to bring

For the hostel:

Bedding is provided but you will need a towel, wash kit and clothes to wear about the hostel. If you are unsure about anything please message the Event Leader.

Ear plugs are handy to block out (at least in part) the sounds of the snoring room mates (although we try and put them in a room together.)

For walks:

This is a summer event and hopefully the weather will be good but of course it can be unpredictable. Shorts / t-shirts are obviously fine. Walking trousers are also good but avoid jeans which get cold and uncomfortable if it does rain.

Make sure you have a jumper / layer or two as it may get chilly.

Boots:  Hiking boots or shoes are best but trainers you don't mind getting muddy will be fine for this area at the time of year.

Socks: Good walking socks keep your feet dry are comfortable and blister free.

Waterproofs:  It is summer but its also the UK. A waterproof jacket is a must and waterproof trousers recommended.

Shades / Cap: Shades and or a cap are handy, particularly if it is sunny.

Rucksack: A good rucksack that is comfortable to wear is essential, and required to carry your lunch and additional clothing.

Food and drink

Don't forget something for the buffet on Friday, your picnic for Saturday and whatever your choice of tipple is for back at the hostel.

If you are unsure about anything please message the Event Leader.
