Please bring a towel, washing kit and clothes to wear about the hostel.

For the day walks you will need:

  • proper walking boots,
  • water-proof jacket and trousers,
  • a selection of warm layers, several thinner layers are better than one really thick one,
  • hat and gloves,
  • loose comfortable trousers, not Jeans,
  • something to keep the contents of your rucksack dry. Either dry bags or a waterproof cover.
  • a torch

The walks are likely to include stretches of open places where, without lots of warm clothing you can get really cold.

Food & Water:  At least two litres of water as well as food to eat and snack on

what's going to happen

Friday night: Once you've settled in the fun kicks off as you catch up with old friends and make new ones whilst you relax in one of the lounges or challenge each other to a game of pool or table football in the games room.

Mulled wine will warm you up from your journey as we partake in the finest of ODL traditions - the buffet tea and welcome meeting. Afterwards there will be an evening activity, or you can just chill out and chat.  To really get you into the festive spirit you are encouraged to wear something seasonal - so dig down into your drawers and pull out something to wear - whether it's your cheesiest Christmas top, an item of headwear or something for your feet - wear it with pride!!

Saturday daytime: For those feeling particularly energetic you could take part in the Sheringham Park park run (http://www.parkrun.org.uk/sheringham/)  pre-registration is required

We will be offering at least 2 day walks which you will be able to sign up to on the Friday evening. These will be confirmed closer to the time.

Alternatively you could explore the seaside town of Sheringham or one of it's neighbours.

After your day out you will be welcomed back with some mulled Apple juice and a chance to relax, socialise and chill out.

Saturday night: It's fancy dress time.  Don your costume and mingle with your fellow ODLers, before we sit down to a very special Christmas dinner (which is included in the event price). During the meal Santa will be making an early visit, and emptying his sack to reward those that have been good and not so good.

Sunday daytime: After breakfast, you are either free to go home or join in a shorter, more leisurely walk which will include a pub-lunch stop if there is enough interest.

Secret Santa and Fancy Dress

Secret Santa

Christmas wouldn't be Christmas if you didn't get to sit on Santa's lap whilst he gives you your own special package from his sack. Don't forget to bring a gift to slip into his sack - this should be wrapped and under the value of £10. Presents will be collected on your arrival, but remember, if you don’t bring a present, you won’t receive one ... so don’t miss out!

This year's fancy dress theme is Panto!!! Oh no it isn't - oh yes it is!!!

You don't need to go crazy, but if you'd like to dress up you'll need a costume or maybe just grab a few accessories to join in the spirit.
