Come and stay in Big Mose Bunkhouse!

Quatford is about 10 minutes south of the pretty town of Bridgnorth - once one of the busiest river ports in Europe.  Nowadays, the Severn, clear and unpolluted, is a quiet haven for anglers, walkers and wildlife.  The river divides the town into High Town and Low Town, the two being linked by seven sets of ancient donkey steps and a Victorian funicular, the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway. The oldest and steepest inland funicular railway makes the journey at least 150 times a day.

Bridgnorth is also the start of the Severn Valley Railway which runs a regular service with classic steam trains.

We stay in a converted Tudor farmhouse on the Dudmaston Estate. Dudmaston House itself offers enchanted wooded parkland, sweeping gardens and a house with a surprise. The gardens provide amazing vistas and tranquillity, while the wider estate provides extensive walking routes for year round enjoyment.

Itinerary

On Saturday we are aiming to use an external company to offer a canoe day trip from Bridgnorth to Bewdley (see Canoe Trip tab below); however people will be free to visit Dunmaston Hall or have a trip into Bridgnorth instead if they wish.

On Sunday there will be the option of a short walk followed by Sunday lunch at a local pub for those who are not in a rush to head off.
