Join us for a 50km (30 mile) circular road ride from Pembroke.  I came across this route on the Guardian website, labelled as one of the five best scenic bike rides in Wales.  https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2015/sep/22/five-best-scenic-bike-rides-wales-snowdonia-pembrokeshire

The ride begins in Pembroke and includes the only sections of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path open to cyclists.  “The route makes a loop to Angle and the big sandy beach at West Angle Bay before crossing the dunescape of Brownside Burrows towards the Castlemartin Firing Range. The rough gravel track along the cliffs is the highlight of this ride, with burned-out tanks on the left and an expanse of blue sea to the right. From St Govan’s the route heads north through Bosherston (another great beach is nearby at South Broad Haven), then Stackpole and a final up-and-down run back to Pembroke.”

There will be approx 460m of ascent which for one of my rides is nothing!

This is the second of three rides in the Pembrokeshire area during the May Day bank holiday weekend - details of the other two can be found by following the links below.  Will (your leader) will be camping at Porthclais Farm Campsite just outside St Davids.

First Ride (Sat 5 May) - http://outdoorlads.com/event/pembrokeshire-road-cycle-ride-1-3-%E2%80%9…

Third Ride (Mon 7 May) - http://outdoorlads.com/event/pembrokeshire-road-cycle-part-3-3-%E2%80%93...

Pace and Terrain

This will be a fairly chilled ride, suitable for road bikes and hybrids.  There is a section of gravel track which if too rough for your road bike can pushed.

You do need reasonable personal fitness for this event as there is a fare distance to cover.  Broadly, anyone who has recently cycled over 20 miles without too much difficulty will be able to complete this ride.
