London Social: October 2017: Retro Bar (38398)

Event Overview

London's easy-going monthly evening to catch up with guys you have met on previous events and meet others you have not met before. This month's social will be led by Christian.

This month we return to The Retro Bar for the first time in several years. Described on its Facebook page as, "The West End's friendliest gay bar. This month we return to The Retro Bar for the first time in several years. Described on its Facebook page as, "The West End's friendliest gay bar. Tucked away down a little alley, Retro Bar is one of gay London’s secret gems – a small, mixed indie bar, where eccentrics are welcomed. The music mixes 70s, 80s, New Romantic, goth and alternative – and is reflected in the décor, featuring photos of iconic rock and pop figures, from Bolan to Bowie. There’s a great jukebox – think Grace Jones, Visage, The Associates – and more women than you’ll find in many gay establishments."

You can chat with the leaders and co-ords, tell them what you think of the events on offer, what's working or not, and get the latest inside info on what's being planned, but not quite live on the site yet. Come and chat to the leaders and see what great events we've got planned in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

If you have a favourite pub you think we should try, send the SE Social Organiser (Simon) a message.

what is the london social?

This event usually takes place on the last Thursday of each month.

The purpose of the event is to provide a social network to support South East and London members, allowing members to mix in a location close to where they live. It also provides a great opportunity for those interested in joining to come along and ask questions in a familiar and relaxed environment.

As the socials develop we'll be heading out of town to visit some of the regional gay bars or other venues - if you want a social to come to your part of town, or your SE city, give the SE Social Organiser (Simon) a message.

never been to an outdoorlads event before?

If you have never been on an event, this is great place to start. You will find us a friendly and welcoming group, and if you look out for the leader of the event, he will introduce to other guys at the event - no need to hover at the bar trying to meet people!

There are usually leaders on hand from different disciplines, happy to chat about upcoming events.

can i bring a friend?

Yes of course, especially those who might be interested in what we do. We are meeting in a public venue and it would be great to introduce others to OutdoorLads.

Do I need to register?

Yes please, so we can look out for you.

getting there

There's a useful map on the bar's website.

how will i find the group?

The group should be easy to find or bar-staff will be able to advise you. There is space reserved for us.

If you have not been to an event before, message Christian and ask him to keep an eye out for you.
