It's a fun way to stay fit, you will quickly begin to develop arm, back, finger, and core strength as a result of the many reaches and holds that are repeated through the completion of the climb.

This event is for members of all levels of experience and ability and all are welcome to come along to any of the sessions.

To come along, you will need to register via the event page, and to climb you will need to pay an entry fee directly to the centre when you arrive. For entry fee prices at the centre go to: www.awesomewalls.co.uk/prices-2.html.

For your first time climbing with us, especially if you are new to climbing and need a guided session, please contact the event leader in advance to let him know what your skills and experience are, or if you will need some help to learn the basics.

Do I need a guided session?

If you can answer Yes to the following three questions:

1. Can you tie the correct knots (double figure of 8 and stopper knot)?

2. Can you fit a harness correctly?

3. Can you belay correctly?

Then you do not need a guided session from the event leader.

If you answer No to any of the questions then don't worry this means you will need a guided session from the event leader, who will happily take you through everything you need to know to climb safely.

It is important that all members sign up through the event page to make sure the event leader has all information of the members attending.

What to bring

As a minimum you will need the use of a climbing harness and a belay device (belay plate and a screw-gate karabiner, or a gri-gri if you have one). If you do not have your own, you will be able to hire what you need directly from the centre. For prices please use the link: www.awesomewalls.co.uk/prices-2.html.

A Padlock will also be required to secure any belongings in the on-site lockers (Padlocks can also be borrowed from the centre if you leave deposit to secure).

What to Wear

It is best to wear either shorts, combats or tracksuit bottoms. No jeans or any form of trouser which hampers movement. A t-shirt or vest is also suitable.

If you have any OutdoorLads branded clothing then please try and wear this as it will give the group a good level of visibility.

Any jewellery such as rings, watches, chains or bangles should be removed before beginning the session to prevent injury.

Food & Drink

There is a cafe at the centre where hot and cold drinks along with snacks can be purchased. Bottled drinks can also be purchased here.

Halfway through the event we have a short break in the café, we usually pay for our drink when paying entry, then get it at break.
