A delightful all day walk from Nottingham city center all the way out to leafy countyside and back. This route which starts at the castle takes advantage of stretches of the Nottingham Canal and the Grantham Canal, opened in 1797, and the banks of the River Trent for the perfect winter escape from the city of Nottingham.
We will also finish at the Castle where theres ample opertunity for a well earned pint.
What to bring
You will want your walking boots for this one, and pehaps a big thick pair of socks (because of the amount of hard paths and walk duration). Although this is a walk from the city centre and as such is mainly tarmac paths, we will completely leave the city and enter open countryside. There will be sections where we cross fields.
It will be February so bring plenty of layers of clothes (i.e. breathable T-shirt, a fleece and waterproof jacket to go over the lot).
Food & drink
We'll perhaps stop in West Bridgford for a bite to eat, where there's plenty of shops. This is a 12.5 mile walk and I do recomend you bring some snacks and plenty to drink even if you are planning on sitting down for something in the town.
