19 amazing days!

Once again, OutdoorLads is delighted to be able to offer members three weeks to take part in the world's most iconic trek to Everest Base Camp for just £1850. Passing through lush meadows, terraced fields and Nepali villages, we pass famous monasteries at Dingboche and stay in small local 'hotels' called tea houses. This trip is being run by OutdoorLads Event Leader and British Mountain Leader, Nick Read along with an experienced Nepali guide.

This is a strikingly beautiful way to reach Everest Base Camp and get the best views in the Khumbu region. It's not the quickest route to Base Camp but you'll avoid the hordes and reach the heart of Sherpa country. You'll climb Gokyo Ri and cross the Cho la pass both of which offer superb views of Everest and Lhotse. In the Gokyo valley you'll also be able to see Cho Oyu and look across to Makulu. That’s four of the world's fourteen 8000m peaks spotted in one trip! We'll trek past famous monasteries at Dingboche and stay in small local 'hotels' called tea houses whilst porters will carry your main bags.

The Gokyo route is slightly longer than the standard route. This enables significantly better acclimatisation, resulting in a much higher rate of success. The hardest days are generally at altitudes over 5000 metres but by allowing ourselves to acclimatise gradually we will be making it perfectly achievable for people who walk in the mountains regularly.

Our trip organiser (and OutdoorLads Member) Nick Read, is a qualified and experienced Mountain Leader and expedition guide who has been working regularly in Nepal for many years and led successful OutdoorLads trips to Everest in 2014 and 2017 (the photos above are from this trip!) We will be using Nepali guides who have experience working on OutdoorLads trips in Nepal.

This price for this once in a lifetime adventure is just £1850 which includes all accommodation and transfers in Nepal. It also includes a welcome meal on the 31st March and the two temple and royal city tours on the 1st March and the 17th April. The price is cheaper than most commercial operations organising this trek mainly due to the Event Leader being able to organise the trip himself through his company Pride Expeditions.

Flights/Visas: please arrange your own flights once you have received word that the trip is guaranteed to run. Aim to arrive in Nepal on or before the 31st March 2019 and leave on or after the 18th April 2019. You will need a 30 day visa which is available to purchase on arrival in Nepal for around £40.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Included: All accomodation, internal flights, national park enrty fees, local guides, porter fees, temple entry fees and local transport.

Not included: Entry visa on arrival in Nepal, food (aside from the welcome meal), vaccinations, personal equipment and travel insurance (your travel insurance must include medical evacuation for trekking above 5000m - cheaper insurance companies do not usually cover this.

Saftey: The event organiser will be carrying a satellite phone, emergency equipment and a comprehensive medical kit. At times we may be walking on snowfields and you will be provided with walking crampons should it be deemed necessary.

VACCINATIONS

Recommended vaccinations: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid and Rabies are recommended. You should speak to your GP at least 8 weeks before traveling for the best advice. If you have any questions or concerns please ask.
