A long linear ride for road cyclists with a bit of endurance! A long ride up across the Forth Bridge and up through Fife to St Andrews. Hopefully we will have mostly a tailwind to help you along.... but we will take some rest stops along the way!
We will take the train back to Edinburgh from Leuchars - well having done 62miles would you want to do it again in the same day ??!! #KnackeredLegs
Sorry Mountain Bikes - this one is not for you. You will need to have some good endurance and to be happy to cycle all day!
For those of you with cycle computers, you may download the TCX file here
What to bring
As the weather at this time can be very changeable, please come prepared for wet weather and enough clothing to keep you warm.
Make sure you bring spare innertubes, tools for repairs as getting stranded out in the middle of the countryside due to a mechanical breakdown is not fun.
Food & drink
Make sure you bring enough food to keep you going; the biggest cause of fatigue in inexperienced cyclists is not enough food. You must eat lots to keep you going. You will probably burn in excess of 2400 Kcals on this ride! Plenty of water too!
There will be chances to stop to buy food and drink. There is a Marks and Spencer in Haymarket station for those of you who have forgotten to stock up!
