Join me for another "Southern Rambles for Londoners" inspired walk.
First leg of the walk is from Penshurst to Hever where we will be stopping, either for a pint/lunch in the Henry viii pub or for those that want, visit to the castle. A visit to the castle and grounds costs £16.90
Hever castle was originally built in the 13th century and is most famous for being Ann Boleyn's childhood home. If you are not sure what to have at the pub you can always have a "Bloody Mary" named for Ann's daughter Queen Mary. Ann of course was the second wife of Henry viii. She is thought to have been about 5ft 2 at the beginning of the marriage but she was only a smidgen over 4ft at the end of it.
The second leg of the walk takes us to Penshurst and a train home.
What to bring
Please make sure you have plenty food and water as there are no shops along the route.
Food & drink
As we will be stopping for a while in Hever there will be a chance to get food at the pub. Alternatively there is a nice church yard just opposite the pub to sit down and have a sarnie or two. Please make sure you have something to munch on en route as the pub break comes quite late in the walk. There are no shops along the route.
The plan is to stop two hours in Hever.
