The walk is a circular walk starting and finishing in the village of Tockholes near Darwen in Lancashire. We will leave the village and head across the fields to Abbey Village. We will then head south and make our way around the three Roddlesworth reservoirs. We will then head over to the ruins of Hollinshead Hall. This was an 18th century manor house with parts of it dating back to the 14th century. We will see the Well House which is pretty much intact, which it is believed to house either a holy spring or a magic wishing well.

From here we will then head across Darwen Moor and make our way to the top of the hill we will make our way along part of The Witton Weavers Way and onto the Darwen Jubilee Tower. The tower was built to celebrate Queen Victoria’s 60th year on the throne. The tower is open and you can climb the 82 steps to the top. On a clear day you should be able to see as far away as The Isle of Man and the hills of North Wales.

We will then make our way down the hill and round Sunnyhurst Hey and Earnsdale reservoirs before we reach the end of the walk.

After the walk there is the option of refreshment at the Royal Arms pub.
