No, nothing to do with the EU Common Agricultural Policy! 'Butter Mountain' is the translation from Gaelic of Beinn Ìme - the highest mountain in the Arrochar Alps range at 1011m (3317 ft).

Beinn Ìme is easily accessible from the head of Loch Long. We start off by carefuly crossing the A83 and joining a very well paved path for the first few kilometres. This path is steep and will get the heart going! Most people will be familiar with it as it is the route used to reach Ben Arthur (The Cobbler), which we pass on the left shortly before the path ends and we reach the base of Beinn Ìme. The route up from there is fairly gentle but a rather boggy, grassy ascent. If conditions are fine, we will be rewarded with some fine views from the summit.

This is an easy hill to climb in summer, but a bit more challenging at this time of year, so you should come fully prepared for winter conditions. We aim to be finished the walk before dark, but if you have a head-torch it would be a good idea to bring it just in case.
