A moderate day walk. A 20 minute drive from the campsite will be required.
From the industrial and still operational slate town, once the heart of north Wales slate production we head out and begin our steady climb of Moelwyn Mawr, encircling the reservoir at Llyn Stwlan as we reach the summit and some old quarry workings. We then descend towards the larger Tanygrisiau Reservoir with the Blaenau Ffestiniog railway running along its shores. Our destination is the station of Ddualt which is renowned for its panoramic views of the area, well worth a camera shot or three. We then descend through the forest past some waterfalls before picking our way back down to the town centre and our cars for the return.
