Bryn Brethynau Climbing Weekend
7 people attending
3 places left
8 hours
We're back at the NLMC Hut between Betws y Coed & Capel Curig, for another epic weekend of mountaineering. With the scrambling event running alongside this multi pitch climbing event, there should be 20 of us total in the barn, which should make for a nice sized group. The hut is ideally situated to access the many fantastic area's nearby such as the Llanberis Pass, Ogwen, Tremadog, the Moelwyns, and so much more!
To attend this event, you will need to have attended a few outdoor climbing events with OutdoorLads already, and will need to be fairly confident in climbing Trad Routes outdoors (seconding only is fine) as well as in tying in with a figure 8 knot, and Lead-Belaying a climbing partner. If you are unsure about the difficulty of the event, or whether you have necessary skills & experience, please message the event leader with your questions.
The climbing option this weekend is intended to be focussed on Multi-Pitch Trad Climbing. It could be a good opportunity for single pitch climbers with a bit of experience behind them to try multi-pitch routes.
The number of places available for the climbing option, may depend on how many lead climbers are available. Places for 'seconders' will be on a first come first serve basis.
If you might be interested in the scrambling option instead, please see that event here:

What to bring
Harness, Rock boots, Belay plate and Screw gate karabiner, and a Helmet.
Climbing rack/gear & rope if you have it.
A waterproof, and some warm layers in case the weather is not what we hope for...it is the UK!
If you don't have your own equipment then you may be able to use the OutdoorLads gear if you message the meet leader in advance. Please note there are limited group helmets available, and you wont be able to climb without one; rock boots are also essential for this event- no trainers sorry! Group gear is first come first serve!
Insect repellent is advisable to those susceptable to midges.
Sun screen is advisable, but best applied before leaving the hut so hands can be washed afterwards. Otherwise you will have greasy hands all day which will not help your climbing!
Food & drink
Please bring a buffet item for the table on Friday. Please also bring breakfast and lunch provisions for yourself for the weekend. A packed lunch will be needed both days as it will not be possible to leave the crag and visit shops midway through the day.
The hut has a full working kitchen for everyone's use.
Please note there will be no communal meals provided on this event.
The pub 5 mins away serves good pub grub, and (in my experience) most have been happy to eat there on the Saturday night.
