Christmas and New Year have gone, and spring’s still a little way off, so February is always a month where there’s not much going on! Why not join us then for a weekend nestled at the foot of The Black Mountains in Cadarn?

The northeast part of the Brecon Beacons National Park is dominated by the Black Mountains; a group of old red sandstone hills, the highest of which is Waun Fach. They're cloaked in grass and heather and laced with rivers. Located to the east of Hay-on-Wye, Talgarth, Llangorse, Crickhowell and Abergavenny, the Black Mountains form a natural border with Herefordshire, England. They provide stunning views and some fantastic walks.

Originally a small Welsh hill farm, Cadarn Bunkhouse is surrounded by its own land and fabulous views of the Black Mountains and the Wye Valley. There’s easy access to the many walks in the mountains directly from Cardarn using a private track.

It enjoys a quiet, peaceful location, perfect for just chilling out, yet is only half a mile from the village of Felindre, with a friendly local pub; it’s also just four miles from Talgarth and five from Hay-on-Wye. Talgarth has a working flour Mill and Hay is famous for its book shops and literary festival, both have a selection of cafes, pubs and restaurants, and there are small supermarkets in both towns should you need to stop off on route.
