Biking events consist of both on-road cycling and off-road mountain biking. These take place across the country and can either be stand-alone day events or form part of a weekend event such as a hostel or a camp.

ROAD CYCLING
You will be able to successfully run an on or off-road cycling event for a minimum of 6 people and maximum of 12. If not taking place on-road, these events will be on well marked trails on good ground. You will need to understand the rules of the road and be confident at ensuring the safety of those you are leading at all times. You will be first aid trained and understand general bike repair maintenance such as how to deal with punctures. You will carry a first aid kit and know how to use it.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
You will be able to successfully run an off-road mountain biking event for a minimum of 6 people and maximum of 12. These events will be on rough trails or bridleways on good to difficult ground and may include steep descents and technical sections. You will need to understand the rules of the road and be aware of other users of bridleways. You must be confident at ensuring the safety of those you are leading at all times. You will be first aid trained and understand general bike repair maintenance, such as how to deal with punctures. You will carry a first aid kit and know how to use it.

WHAT WILL I NEED TO DO TO BE A BIKING LEADER?
After applying and going through any necessary training you will need to agree a suitable date for your practical assessment with your local Biking Organiser or your Regional Coordinator. You will then need to show that you have the necessary skills to be a good road cycling or mountain biking leader including planning an interesting event and dealing with any issues members may have during the course of the event. You will need to complete an outdoor First Aid course (don't worry if you don't currently have a first aid qualification as we can help you with that). You will also need to sign a non-disclosure agreement before gaining access to sensitive data including next-of-kin information.
